In this tutorial we learn how to install gvfs-fuse on Debian 9.

What is gvfs-fuse

gvfs-fuse is:

gvfs is a userspace virtual filesystem where mounts run as separate processes which you talk to via D-Bus. It also contains a gio module that seamlessly adds gvfs support to all applications using the gio API. It also supports exposing the gvfs mounts to non-gio applications using fuse.

This package contains the gvfs-fuse server that exports gvfs mounts to all applications using FUSE.

There are three methods to install gvfs-fuse on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gvfs-fuse Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gvfs-fuse using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gvfs-fuse

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update
