How To Install ghkl on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install ghkl on Debian 9.
What is ghkl
ghkl is:
The hkl library is a framework for diffraction computation and diffractometer control, heavily used at the SOLEIL synchrotron. It supports various types of diffractometer geometry: Eulerian 4-circle, Eulerian 6-circle, kappa 4-circle, kappa 6-circle, and z-axis geometry. For each of these it provides several numerically computed modes, such as bisector and constant psi.
This package provides a gui on top of the hkl library.
There are three methods to install ghkl on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ghkl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ghkl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ghkl
Install ghkl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ghkl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ghkl
Install ghkl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ghkl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ghkl
How To Uninstall ghkl on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ghkl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ghkl
Uninstall ghkl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ghkl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ghkl
Remove ghkl Configurations and Data
To remove ghkl configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ghkl
