How To Install freebayes on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is freebayes
freebayes is:
FreeBayes is a Bayesian genetic variant detector designed to find small polymorphisms, specifically SNPs (single-nucleotide polymorphisms), indels (insertions and deletions), MNPs (multi-nucleotide polymorphisms), and complex events (composite insertion and substitution events) smaller than the length of a short-read sequencing alignment.
There are three methods to install freebayes
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install freebayes Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install freebayes
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install freebayes

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install freebayes
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install freebayes
Install freebayes Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install freebayes
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install freebayes
How To Uninstall freebayes on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the freebayes
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove freebayes
Uninstall freebayes And Its Dependencies
To uninstall freebayes
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove freebayes
Remove freebayes Configurations and Data
To remove freebayes
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge freebayes
