How To Install flite1-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install flite1-dev
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is flite1-dev
flite1-dev is:
Flite is a small fast run-time speech synthesis engine. It is the latest addition to the suite of free software synthesis tools including University of Edinburgh’s Festival Speech Synthesis System and Carnegie Mellon University’s FestVox project, tools, scripts and documentation for building synthetic voices. However, flite itself does not require either of these systems to run.
It currently only supports the English and Indic languages.
This extra package provides the flite static libraries and header files.
There are three methods to install flite1-dev
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install flite1-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install flite1-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install flite1-dev
Install flite1-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install flite1-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install flite1-dev
Install flite1-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install flite1-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install flite1-dev
How To Uninstall flite1-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the flite1-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove flite1-dev
Uninstall flite1-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall flite1-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove flite1-dev
Remove flite1-dev Configurations and Data
To remove flite1-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge flite1-dev
Remove flite1-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove flite1-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge flite1-dev
