How To Install dialign-tx-data on Debian 11

In this tutorial we learn how to install dialign-tx-data on Debian 11. dialign-tx-data is Segment-based multiple sequence alignment (data files)

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install dialign-tx-data on Debian 11.

What is dialign-tx-data

dialign-tx-data is:

DIALIGN-TX is a command line tool to perform multiple alignment of protein or DNA sequences. It is a complete reimplementation of the segment-base approach including several new improvements and heuristics that significantly enhance the quality of the output alignments compared to DIALIGN 2.2 and DIALIGN-T. For pairwise alignment, DIALIGN-TX uses a fragment-chaining algorithm that favours chains of low-scoring local alignments over isolated high-scoring fragments. For multiple alignment, DIALIGN-TX uses an improved greedy procedure that is less sensitive to spurious local sequence similarities.

This package contain the score matrices and probability distribution files that DIALIGN-TX needs to align peptidic and nucleic sequences.

There are three methods to install dialign-tx-data on Debian 11. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dialign-tx-data Using apt-get

Install dialign-tx-data Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dialign-tx-data using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dialign-tx-data

Install dialign-tx-data Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dialign-tx-data using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dialign-tx-data

How To Uninstall dialign-tx-data on Debian 11
