How To Install ceph-mds on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install ceph-mds on Debian 9.
What is ceph-mds
ceph-mds is:
Ceph is a distributed storage and network file system designed to provide excellent performance, reliability, and scalability.
This package contains the metadata server daemon, which is used to create a distributed file system on top of the ceph storage cluster.
There are three methods to install ceph-mds on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ceph-mds using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ceph-mds
How To Uninstall ceph-mds on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ceph-mds package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ceph-mds

To uninstall ceph-mds and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ceph-mds

To remove ceph-mds configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ceph-mds
