How To Install anthy on Debian 9

What is anthy
anthy is:
Anthy is a Japanese input method working on X11 and Emacs. It converts hiragana text to mixed kana and kanji. It is implemented as a library and stores private information securely in ~/.anthy/. Thus, Anthy is simple and secure (information is protected from spoofing and snooping).
There are three methods to install anthy
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install anthy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install anthy
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install anthy

After updating apt database, We can install anthy

by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install anthy
Install anthy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install anthy
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install anthy
How To Uninstall anthy on Debian 9
To uninstall only the anthy
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove anthy
Uninstall anthy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall anthy
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove anthy
Remove anthy Configurations and Data
To remove anthy
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge anthy
