How To Install amarok-utils on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install amarok-utils on Debian 9.
What is amarok-utils
amarok-utils is:
This package contains command line utilities that are typically used by Amarok media player but might also be useful on systems without Amarok installed. They are designed to be lightweight as they do not depend on KDE libraries.
Currently the package contains the following utilities:
- amarokcollectionscanner - scans audio files, collects information from file tags and prints it in the structured XML format.
- amarok_afttagger - a helper program which writes/removes custom tags to/from media files required for embedded “Amarok File Tracking”.
- amzdownloader - easily download your files from Amazon if you have their references in an encrypted .amz file.
There are three methods to install amarok-utils on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install amarok-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install amarok-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install amarok-utils
Install amarok-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install amarok-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install amarok-utils
Install amarok-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install amarok-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install amarok-utils
How To Uninstall amarok-utils on Debian 9
To uninstall only the amarok-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove amarok-utils
Uninstall amarok-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall amarok-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove amarok-utils
Remove amarok-utils Configurations and Data
To remove amarok-utils configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge amarok-utils
Remove amarok-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
