How To Install uid_wrapper on Fedora 34
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install uid_wrapper
on Fedora 34.
What is uid_wrapper
Some projects like a file server need privilege separation to be able to switch to the connection user and do file operations. uid_wrapper convincingly lies to the application letting it believe it is operating as root and even switching between UIDs and GIDs as needed. We can use yum
or dnf
to install uid_wrapper
on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install uid_wrapper.
Install uid_wrapper on Fedora 34 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install uid_wrapper
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install uid_wrapper
Install uid_wrapper on Fedora 34 Using yum

using the following command.

How To Uninstall uid_wrapper on Fedora 34
To uninstall only the uid_wrapper
