Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install prwd on Fedora 34.

What is prwd

Most shells read $PS1 differently and have a very rigid way to display the current working directory. prwd allows you to have one way to handle the display of your working directory and use it across multiple shells. It also allows you to keep an eye on your current branch when you enter a project handled by git or mercurial.

We can use yum or dnf to install prwd on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install prwd.

Install prwd on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install prwd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install prwd

Install prwd on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall prwd on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the prwd package we can use the following command:
