In this tutorial we learn how to install ncrack on Fedora 34.

What is ncrack

Ncrack is a high-speed network authentication cracking tool. It was built to help companies secure their networks by proactively testing all their hosts and networking devices for poor passwords. Security professionals also rely on Ncrack when auditing their clients. Ncrack was designed using a modular approach, a command-line syntax similar to Nmap and a dynamic engine that can adapt its behaviour based on network feedback. It allows for rapid, yet reliable large-scale auditing of multiple hosts.

We can use yum or dnf to install ncrack on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ncrack.

Install ncrack on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

Fedora 34 - x86_64                               20 kB/s | 6.6 kB     00:00

After updating yum database, We can install ncrack using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ncrack

Install ncrack on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall ncrack on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the ncrack package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ncrack
