How To Install mtools on Fedora 34

mtools is Programs for accessing MS-DOS disks without mounting the disks

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install mtools on Fedora 34.

What is mtools

Mtools is a collection of utilities for accessing MS-DOS files. Mtools allow you to read, write and move around MS-DOS filesystem files (normally on MS-DOS floppy disks). Mtools supports Windows95 style long file names, OS/2 XDF disks, and 2m disks Mtools should be installed if you need to use MS-DOS disks

We can use yum or dnf to install mtools on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mtools.

Install mtools on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install mtools using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install mtools
