What is ccrypt

ccrypt is a utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams. It was designed as a replacement for the standard unix crypt utility, which is notorious for using a very weak encryption algorithm.

We can use yum or dnf to install ccrypt on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ccrypt.

Install ccrypt on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install ccrypt using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ccrypt

How To Uninstall ccrypt on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the ccrypt package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ccrypt
