In this tutorial we learn how to install bdftopcf on Fedora 34.

What is bdftopcf

bdftopcf is a font compiler for the X server and font server. Fonts in Portable Compiled Format can be read by any architecture, although the file is structured to allow one particular architecture to read them directly without reformatting. This allows fast reading on the appropriate machine, but the files are still portable (but read more slowly) on other machines.

We can use yum or dnf to install bdftopcf on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install bdftopcf.

Install bdftopcf on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install bdftopcf using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install bdftopcf

Install bdftopcf on Fedora 34 Using yum

How To Uninstall bdftopcf on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the bdftopcf package we can use the following command:
