How To Install console-conf on Ubuntu 22.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install console-conf on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is console-conf
console-conf is:
SUbiquity is an installer system for servers, embedded devices and desktops or laptops meant to build systems as quickly as possible for users to reach a point where their system is usable.
By default, subiquity provides a “first boot” experience that allows users to do initial system configuration such as adding users and login settings, along with doing basic network configuration. It can also be used to build a new system from the ground up, partitioning and copying a disk image to the storage device selected by the user.
This package provides the setup routines for pre-ownership configuration of a system.
There are three methods to install console-conf on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install console-conf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install console-conf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install console-conf
Install console-conf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install console-conf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install console-conf
Install console-conf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install console-conf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install console-conf
How To Uninstall console-conf on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the console-conf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove console-conf
Uninstall console-conf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall console-conf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove console-conf
Remove console-conf Configurations and Data
To remove console-conf configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge console-conf
Remove console-conf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove console-conf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge console-conf
