In this tutorial we learn how to install amule-daemon on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is amule-daemon

amule-daemon is:

This package contains a daemonized version of aMule, amuled, that does not need a graphic environment to run, and can run in the background as well. It is normally used to be run in a machine 24/7, since the application continues to run if the X11 session closes.

Included in the package is a webserver that provides an interface to control the daemon. Remote connections are supported, and the daemon can be configured to start the webserver automatically at startup. It is also possible to control amuled via amulecmd, from the amule-utils package, and amulegui, available in the amule-utils-gui package.

There are three methods to install amule-daemon on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install amule-daemon Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install amule-daemon using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install amule-daemon

Install amule-daemon Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install amule-daemon using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install amule-daemon

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install amule-daemon using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install amule-daemon

How To Uninstall amule-daemon on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the amule-daemon package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove amule-daemon

Uninstall amule-daemon And Its Dependencies

To uninstall amule-daemon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove amule-daemon

Remove amule-daemon Configurations and Data

To remove amule-daemon configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge amule-daemon

Remove amule-daemon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove amule-daemon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge amule-daemon
