How To Install ifhp on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install ifhp on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is ifhp
ifhp is:
ifhp is a highly versatile print filter for BSD based print spoolers. It can be configured to handle text, PostScript, PJL, PCL, and raster printers, supports conversion from one format to another, and can be used as a stand-alone print utility. It is the primary supported print filter for the LPRng print spooler.
It provides access to printer features like duplex printing, paper tray selection and strong accounting using the printer’s internal page counter.
There are three methods to install ifhp on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ifhp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ifhp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ifhp
Install ifhp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ifhp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ifhp
Install ifhp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ifhp using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ifhp
How To Uninstall ifhp on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the ifhp package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ifhp
Uninstall ifhp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ifhp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ifhp
Remove ifhp Configurations and Data
To remove ifhp configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ifhp
Remove ifhp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ifhp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ifhp
