In this tutorial we learn how to install gwtp on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is gwtp

gwtp is:

Geneweb allows keeping track of ancestral data. It is a powerful system for maintaining a set of data about your family history. It supports much of the GEDCOM tag system for data storage, and can be used either as your primary system for archiving genealogical data, or as a web service (through a CGI interface) for publishing your data for others to use.

Gwtp is a CGI program allowing owners of databases hosted on a GeneWeb site to upload and download their databases on the site and change their configuration parameters.

There are three methods to install gwtp on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gwtp Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gwtp using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gwtp

Install gwtp Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gwtp using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gwtp

Install gwtp Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gwtp using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gwtp

How To Uninstall gwtp on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the gwtp package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gwtp

Uninstall gwtp And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gwtp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gwtp

Remove gwtp Configurations and Data

To remove gwtp configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gwtp

Remove gwtp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gwtp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gwtp
