How To Install faust on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install faust
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is faust
faust is:
Faust is a functional programming language specifically designed for realtime audio applications and plugins. The syntax of the language is block diagram oriented. The faust compiler translate signal processing specifications into optimized C++ code for signal processing applications.
The generated code can be wrapped into an ‘architecture file’ in order to create for example a standalone jack/gtk application. Several architecture file are provided and additional ones are fairly easy to add.
There are three methods to install faust
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install faust Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install faust
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install faust
Install faust Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install faust
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install faust
Install faust Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install faust
using aptitude

How To Uninstall faust on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the faust
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove faust
Uninstall faust And Its Dependencies
To uninstall faust
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove faust
Remove faust Configurations and Data
To remove faust
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge faust
Remove faust configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
