dnscap is a network capture utility designed specifically for DNS traffic. It produces binary data in pcap(3) format. This utility is similar to tcpdump(1), but has a number of features tailored to DNS transactions and protocol options.

There are three methods to install dnscap on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dnscap Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dnscap using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dnscap

Install dnscap Using apt

After updating apt database, We can install dnscap using apt by running the following command:
