In this tutorial we learn how to install dnaclust on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is dnaclust

dnaclust is:

dnaclust is a tool for clustering large number of short DNA sequences. The clusters are created in such a way that the “radius” of each clusters is no more than the specified threshold.

The input sequences to be clustered should be in Fasta format. The id of each sequence is based on the first word of the seqeunce in the Fasta format. The first word is the prefix of the header up to the first occurrence of white space characters in the header.

There are three methods to install dnaclust on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dnaclust Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dnaclust using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dnaclust

Install dnaclust Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dnaclust using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dnaclust

Install dnaclust Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dnaclust using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dnaclust

How To Uninstall dnaclust on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the dnaclust package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dnaclust

Uninstall dnaclust And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dnaclust and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dnaclust

Remove dnaclust Configurations and Data

To remove dnaclust configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dnaclust
