How To Install clips on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install clips
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is clips
clips is:
CLIPS is an OPS-like forward chaining production system written in ANSI C by NASA. The CLIPS inference engine includes truth maintenance, dynamic rule addition, and customizable conflict resolution strategies.
CLIPS, including the runtime version, is easily embeddable in other applications. CLIPS includes an object-oriented language called COOL (CLIPS Object-Oriented Language) which is directly integrated with the inference engine.
There are three methods to install clips
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install clips Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install clips
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install clips

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install clips
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install clips
Install clips Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install clips

How To Uninstall clips on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the clips
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove clips
Uninstall clips And Its Dependencies
To uninstall clips
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove clips
Remove clips Configurations and Data
To remove clips
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge clips
Remove clips configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
