How To Install qgit on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install qgit on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is qgit
qgit is:
With qgit you will be able to browse revision tree, view patch content and changed files, graphically following different development branches. Main features:
- View revisions, diffs, files history, files annotation, archive tree.
- Commit changes visually cherry picking modified files.
- Apply or format patch series from selected commits, drag and drop commits between two instances of qgit.
- qgit implements a GUI for the most common StGIT commands like push/pop and apply/format patches. You can also create new patches or refresh current top one using the same semantics of git commit, i.e. cherry picking single modified files.
There are three methods to install qgit on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qgit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qgit using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qgit
Install qgit Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qgit using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qgit
Install qgit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qgit using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qgit
How To Uninstall qgit on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the qgit package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qgit
Uninstall qgit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qgit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qgit
Remove qgit Configurations and Data
To remove qgit configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qgit
Remove qgit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qgit configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qgit
