What is pipenv

Pipenv is the officially recommended Python packaging tool from Python.org.

Pipenv is a tool that aims to bring the best of all packaging worlds (bundler, composer, npm, cargo, yarn, etc.) to the Python world. It automatically creates and manages a virtualenv for your projects, as well as adds/removes packages from your Pipfile as you install/uninstall packages. It also generates the ever–important Pipfile.lock, which is used to produce deterministic builds.

There are three methods to install pipenv on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pipenv Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pipenv using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install pipenv

Install pipenv Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install pipenv using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install pipenv

Install pipenv Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install pipenv using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install pipenv

How To Uninstall pipenv on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the pipenv package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove pipenv

Uninstall pipenv And Its Dependencies

To uninstall pipenv and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pipenv

Remove pipenv Configurations and Data

To remove pipenv configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pipenv

Remove pipenv configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove pipenv configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
