How To Install pencil2d on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install pencil2d on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is pencil2d
pencil2d is:
Pencil2D is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics.
The basic features of Pencil2D are:
- layers support (separated layer for bitmap, vector and soud part)
- bitmap drawing
- vector drawing
- sound support
There are three methods to install pencil2d on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pencil2d Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pencil2d using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pencil2d
Install pencil2d Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pencil2d using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pencil2d
Install pencil2d Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pencil2d using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pencil2d
How To Uninstall pencil2d on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the pencil2d package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pencil2d
Uninstall pencil2d And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pencil2d and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pencil2d
Remove pencil2d Configurations and Data
To remove pencil2d configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pencil2d
Remove pencil2d configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pencil2d configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pencil2d
