How To Install pakcs on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install pakcs on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is pakcs
pakcs is:
PAKCS is an implementation of the multi-paradigm declarative language Curry jointly developed by the Portland State University, the Aachen University of Technology, and the University of Kiel. Although this is not a highly optimized implementation but based on a high-level compilation of Curry programs into Prolog programs, it is not a toy implementation: PAKCS has been used for a variety of applications so far (e.g., graphical programming environments, an object-oriented front-end for Curry, partial evaluators, database applications, HTML programming with dynamic web pages, prototyping embedded systems). The size of all current Curry applications implemented with PAKCS amounts to more than 150,000 lines (or 8 mbytes) of program code.
There are three methods to install pakcs on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pakcs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pakcs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pakcs
Install pakcs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pakcs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pakcs
Install pakcs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pakcs using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pakcs
How To Uninstall pakcs on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the pakcs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pakcs
Uninstall pakcs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pakcs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pakcs
Remove pakcs Configurations and Data
To remove pakcs configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pakcs
Remove pakcs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pakcs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pakcs
