Openbox 3 is a completely new breed of window manager. It is not based upon any existing code base, although the visual appearance has been based upon that of Blackbox. Openbox 2 was based on the Blackbox 0.65.0 codebase.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

How To Uninstall openbox on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the openbox package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove openbox

To uninstall openbox and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove openbox

Remove openbox Configurations and Data

To remove openbox configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge openbox
