In this tutorial we learn how to install mecat2 on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is mecat2

mecat2 is:

An improved version of MECAT. It is an ultra-fast and accurate mapping and error correcting de novo assembly tools for single molecula sequencing (SMRT) reads. MECAT2 consists of the following three modules:

  1. mecat2map: a fast and accurate alignment tool for SMRT reads.
  2. mecat2cns: correct noisy reads based on their pairwise overlaps.
  3. fsa: a string graph based assembly tool.

There are three methods to install mecat2 on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mecat2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mecat2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mecat2

Install mecat2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mecat2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mecat2

Install mecat2 Using aptitude
