How To Install lmbench on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install lmbench
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is lmbench
lmbench is:
Lmbench is a set of utilities to test the performance of a unix system producing detailed results as well as providing tools to process them. It includes a series of micro benchmarks that measure some basic operating system and hardware metrics:
- file reading and summing
- memory bandwidth while reading, writing and copying
- copying data through pipes
- copying data through Unix sockets
- reading data through TCP/IP sockets
There are three methods to install lmbench
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lmbench Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lmbench
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lmbench

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install lmbench

Install lmbench Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall lmbench on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the lmbench
