In this tutorial we learn how to install kawari8 on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is kawari8

kawari8 is:

Kawari is a conversation generating script language. It is usually used to develop ghosts for Ukagaka platform.

Ukagaka, also known as Nanika, is a platform on which provides mascot characters for the user’s desktop. These mascot characters can say something which is programmatically generated. Conversations can be generated by programs which follows the Shiori standard. And the conversation-generating script we called it “ghost” which means the spirit of the mascot character.

This package also install the kawari8 plug-in for ninix-aya in order to perform ghosts based on kawari8.

There are three methods to install kawari8 on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kawari8 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kawari8 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install kawari8

Install kawari8 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install kawari8 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install kawari8

Install kawari8 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install kawari8 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install kawari8
