What is harvid

harvid is:

Harvid is a HTTP server to efficiently extract, cache and serve still images from movie files.

It provides for frame-accurate decoding and is main use-case is to act as backend and second level cache for rendering the videotimeline in Ardour.

Harvid uses ffmpeg/libav and supports a wide variety of video codecs and formats.

There are three methods to install harvid on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install harvid Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install harvid using apt-get by running the following command:
