How To Install gnuplot on Ubuntu 22.04

on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is gnuplot
gnuplot is:
Gnuplot is a portable command-line driven interactive data and function plotting utility that supports lots of output formats, including drivers for many printers, (La)TeX, (x)fig, Postscript, and so on. The X11-output is packaged in gnuplot-x11.
Data files and self-defined functions can be manipulated by the internal C-like language. Can perform smoothing, spline-fitting, or nonlinear fits, and can work with complex numbers.
This metapackage is to install a full-featured gnuplot (-qt, -x11 or -nox).
There are three methods to install gnuplot
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnuplot Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnuplot
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnuplot
Install gnuplot Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnuplot
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnuplot
Install gnuplot Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnuplot
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnuplot
How To Uninstall gnuplot on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the gnuplot
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnuplot
Uninstall gnuplot And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnuplot
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnuplot
Remove gnuplot Configurations and Data
To remove gnuplot
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnuplot
Remove gnuplot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnuplot
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnuplot
