How To Install fping on Ubuntu 22.04

What is fping
fping is:
fping is a ping like program which uses the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request to determine if a target host is responding. fping differs from ping in that you can specify any number of targets on the command line, or specify a file containing the lists of targets to ping. Instead of sending to one target until it times out or replies, fping will send out a ping packet and move on to the next target in a round-robin fashion.
There are three methods to install fping on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fping Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fping using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fping
Install fping Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fping using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fping
Install fping Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fping using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fping
How To Uninstall fping on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the fping package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fping
Uninstall fping And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fping and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fping
Remove fping Configurations and Data
To remove fping configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fping
Remove fping configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
