What is dsdcc

dsdcc is:

DSDcc is a digital speech decoder. Supported formats:

  • DMR/MOTOTRBO: ETSI two slot TDMA standard. MOTOTRBO is a popular implementation of this standard.
  • D-Star: developed and promoted by Icom for Amateur Radio customers.
  • dPMR: ETSI narrowband FDMA standard. This is somehow similar to NXDN 2400 Baud rate mode.
  • Yaesu System Fusion (abbreviated YSF): developed and promoted by Yaesu for Amateur Radio customers partly inspired by gr-ysf. Voice full rate with SerialDV is not supported.

This package contains dsdccx, the command line interface.

There are three methods to install dsdcc on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dsdcc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dsdcc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dsdcc

Install dsdcc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dsdcc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dsdcc

Install dsdcc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dsdcc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dsdcc

How To Uninstall dsdcc on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the dsdcc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dsdcc

Uninstall dsdcc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dsdcc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dsdcc

Remove dsdcc Configurations and Data

To remove dsdcc configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dsdcc

Remove dsdcc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dsdcc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dsdcc
