How To Install bochs on Ubuntu 22.04

What is bochs
bochs is:
Bochs is a highly portable free IA-32 (x86) PC emulator written in C++, that runs on most popular platforms. It includes emulation of the Intel x86 CPU, common I/O devices, and a custom BIOS.
Bochs is capable of running most operating systems inside the emulation including GNU, GNU/Linux, *BSD, FreeDOS, MSDOS and Windows 95/NT.
There are three methods to install bochs
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bochs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bochs
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install bochs

Install bochs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall bochs on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bochs
package we can use the following command:

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bochs
Remove bochs Configurations and Data
To remove bochs
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bochs
Remove bochs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
