How To Install zabbix-java-gateway on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install zabbix-java-gateway on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is zabbix-java-gateway
zabbix-java-gateway is:
Zabbix is a server/client network monitoring system with many features. It can be used for:
- high level monitoring of IT services;
- centralized monitoring of your servers and applications;
- monitoring of SNMP-enabled devices;
- performance monitoring (process load, network activity, disk activity, memory usage, OS parameters etc.);
- data visualization.
This package provides the software needed to monitor Java applications using a Zabbix Java gateway. It collects information from JMX agent.
There are three methods to install zabbix-java-gateway on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install zabbix-java-gateway Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zabbix-java-gateway using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zabbix-java-gateway
Install zabbix-java-gateway Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install zabbix-java-gateway using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install zabbix-java-gateway
Install zabbix-java-gateway Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install zabbix-java-gateway using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install zabbix-java-gateway
How To Uninstall zabbix-java-gateway on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the zabbix-java-gateway package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove zabbix-java-gateway
Uninstall zabbix-java-gateway And Its Dependencies
To uninstall zabbix-java-gateway and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove zabbix-java-gateway
Remove zabbix-java-gateway Configurations and Data
To remove zabbix-java-gateway configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge zabbix-java-gateway
Remove zabbix-java-gateway configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove zabbix-java-gateway configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge zabbix-java-gateway
