How To Install uhd-host on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install uhd-host on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is uhd-host
uhd-host is:
Host utilities for the Universal Hardware Driver for Ettus Research products.
The supported devices provide analog radio receiver and transmitter hardware along with digital interfaces for getting signals to and from a software defined radio running on the host computer.
This package includes the uhd_find_devices application to locate and configure attached peripherals, the uhd_usrp_probe application to display hardware configuration information and Doxygen generated documentation.
There are three methods to install uhd-host on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uhd-host Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-host using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uhd-host
Install uhd-host Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-host using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uhd-host
Install uhd-host Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-host using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uhd-host
How To Uninstall uhd-host on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the uhd-host package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uhd-host
Uninstall uhd-host And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uhd-host and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uhd-host
Remove uhd-host Configurations and Data
To remove uhd-host configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uhd-host
Remove uhd-host configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove uhd-host configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge uhd-host
