The QuantLib project is aimed to provide a comprehensive software framework for quantitative finance. The goal is to provide a standard free/open source library to quantitative analysts and developers for modeling, trading, and risk management in real-life.

QuantLib plans to offer tools that are useful for both practical implementation, with features such as market conventions, solvers, PDEs, etc., and advanced modeling, e.g., exotic options and interest rate models.

This package provides Python bindings to parts of the QuantLib library.

There are three methods to install quantlib-python on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install quantlib-python Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install quantlib-python using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install quantlib-python

Install quantlib-python Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install quantlib-python using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install quantlib-python

Install quantlib-python Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install quantlib-python using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install quantlib-python

How To Uninstall quantlib-python on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the quantlib-python package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove quantlib-python

Uninstall quantlib-python And Its Dependencies

To uninstall quantlib-python and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove quantlib-python

Remove quantlib-python Configurations and Data

To remove quantlib-python configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge quantlib-python

Remove quantlib-python configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove quantlib-python configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge quantlib-python
