How To Install quake3-server on Ubuntu 20.04

on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is quake3-server
quake3-server is:
This package contains a launcher script to run a Quake III Arena or Quake III: Team Arena dedicated server with the ioquake3 engine.
To make this package useful, you will need to create and install the non-distributable quake3-data package, by using the game-data-packager package. This requires pak0.pk3 from a Quake III installation or CD-ROM.
There are three methods to install quake3-server
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install quake3-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install quake3-server
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install quake3-server
Install quake3-server Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install quake3-server
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install quake3-server
Install quake3-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install quake3-server
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install quake3-server
How To Uninstall quake3-server on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the quake3-server
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove quake3-server
Uninstall quake3-server And Its Dependencies
To uninstall quake3-server
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove quake3-server
Remove quake3-server Configurations and Data
To remove quake3-server
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge quake3-server
Remove quake3-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove quake3-server
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge quake3-server
