What is python-pil

python-pil is:

The Python Imaging Library (PIL) adds an image object to your Python interpreter. You can load images from a variety of file formats, and apply a rich set of image operations to them.

Image Objects: o Bilevel, greyscale, palette, true colour (RGB), true colour with transparency (RGBA). o colour separation (CMYK). o Copy, cut, paste operations. o Flip, transpose, resize, rotate, and arbitrary affine transforms. o Transparency operations. o Channel and point operations. o Colour transforms, including matrix operations. o Image enhancement, including convolution filters.

File Formats: o Full (Open/Load/Save): BMP, EPS (with ghostscript), GIF, IM, JPEG, MSP, PDF, PNG, PPM, TIFF, XBM. o Read only (Open/Load): ARG, CUR, DCX, FLI, FPX, GBR, GD, ICO, IMT, IPTC, MCIDAS, MPEG, PhotoCD, PCX, PIXAR, PSD, TGA, SGI, SUN, TGA, WMF, XPM. o Save only: PDF, EPS (without ghostscript).

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pil using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-pil

How To Uninstall python-pil on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the python-pil package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-pil

Uninstall python-pil And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-pil and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-pil

Remove python-pil Configurations and Data

To remove python-pil configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-pil

Remove python-pil configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-pil configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-pil
