What is owncloud-client

owncloud-client is:

The ownCloudSync system lets you always have your latest files wherever you are. Just specify one or more folders on the local machine to and a server to synchronize to. You can configure more computers to synchronize to the same server and any change to the files on one computer will silently and reliably flow across to every other.

owncloud-client provides the graphical client specialising in synchronizing with cloud storage provided by ownCloud.

There are three methods to install owncloud-client on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install owncloud-client Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install owncloud-client using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install owncloud-client

Install owncloud-client Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install owncloud-client using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install owncloud-client

Install owncloud-client Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install owncloud-client using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install owncloud-client

How To Uninstall owncloud-client on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the owncloud-client package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove owncloud-client

Uninstall owncloud-client And Its Dependencies

To uninstall owncloud-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove owncloud-client

Remove owncloud-client Configurations and Data

To remove owncloud-client configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge owncloud-client

Remove owncloud-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove owncloud-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge owncloud-client
