How To Install netcdf-bin on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction

What is netcdf-bin
netcdf-bin is:
Contains the programs ncdump and ncgen which convert NetCDF files to ASCII and back, respectively. NetCDF (network Common Data Form) is an interface for scientific data access and a freely-distributed software library that provides an implementation of the interface. The netCDF library also defines a machine-independent format for representing scientific data. Together, the interface, library, and format support the creation, access, and sharing of scientific data.
There are three methods to install netcdf-bin on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install netcdf-bin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install netcdf-bin using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install netcdf-bin
Install netcdf-bin Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install netcdf-bin using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install netcdf-bin
Install netcdf-bin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install netcdf-bin using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install netcdf-bin
How To Uninstall netcdf-bin on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the netcdf-bin package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove netcdf-bin
Uninstall netcdf-bin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall netcdf-bin and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove netcdf-bin
Remove netcdf-bin Configurations and Data
To remove netcdf-bin configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge netcdf-bin
Remove netcdf-bin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove netcdf-bin configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge netcdf-bin
