How To Install msr-tools on Ubuntu 20.04

What is msr-tools
msr-tools is:
MSRs are Machine Specific Registers that are used to set values for hardware to use, or to pass values between the BIOS and kernel. This package provides utilies to both read and write MSRs. Reading and writing MSRs might be useful when debugging kernel drivers, for example.

Install msr-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install msr-tools using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the msr-tools package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove msr-tools

To remove msr-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge msr-tools
