This package forms part of the Boost C++ Libraries collection.
The Boost Python Library is used to quickly and easily export a C++ library to Python such that the Python interface is very similar to the C++ interface. It is designed to be minimally intrusive on your C++ design. In most cases, you should not have to alter your C++ classes in any way in order to use them with Boost.Python. The system should simply “reflect” your C++ classes and functions into Python. The major features of Boost.Python include support for: Subclassing extension types in Python, Overriding virtual functions in Python, Member function Overloading, Automatic wrapping of numeric operators among others.
This package allows development of a Python interface for all current versions of Python in Debian. Code using this library will need also one of the Python development packages.
This package is a dependency package, which depends on Debian’s default Boost version (currently 1.71).
There are three methods to install libboost-python-dev on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libboost-python-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libboost-python-dev
How To Uninstall libboost-python-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libboost-python-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libboost-python-dev

To uninstall libboost-python-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libboost-python-dev
Remove libboost-python-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libboost-python-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libboost-python-dev
Remove libboost-python-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libboost-python-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
