What is go-mtpfs

go-mtpfs is:

Go-mtpfs is a simple FUSE filesystem for mounting Android devices as an MTP device.

It will expose all storage areas of a device in the mount, and only reads file metadata as needed, making it mount quickly. It uses Android extensions to read/write partial data, so manipulating large files requires no extra space in /tmp. Task: kubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-full, ubuntu-budgie-desktop

There are three methods to install go-mtpfs on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install go-mtpfs Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install go-mtpfs using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install go-mtpfs

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install go-mtpfs using apt by running the following command:

Install go-mtpfs Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install go-mtpfs using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install go-mtpfs

How To Uninstall go-mtpfs on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the go-mtpfs package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove go-mtpfs

Uninstall go-mtpfs And Its Dependencies

To uninstall go-mtpfs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove go-mtpfs

Remove go-mtpfs Configurations and Data

To remove go-mtpfs configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge go-mtpfs

Remove go-mtpfs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove go-mtpfs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge go-mtpfs
