How To Install gnokii-smsd on Ubuntu 20.04

Gnokii is a suite of programs that allows communication with mobile phones. It currently supports many Nokia mobile phones, all AT capable ones as well as many Symbian based. For a list of compatible phones, please visit: http://wiki.gnokii.org
The SMSD (SMS daemon) handles automated sending and receiving of short messages using a storage backend. It is designed to use modules (plugins) to work with different backends, and shares Gnokii’s runtime configuration and libraries.
This package contains the actual daemon and a file based backend. You will need to install the appropriate module packages to add support for other backends.
There are three methods to install gnokii-smsd on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnokii-smsd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnokii-smsd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnokii-smsd
Install gnokii-smsd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnokii-smsd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnokii-smsd
Install gnokii-smsd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnokii-smsd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnokii-smsd
How To Uninstall gnokii-smsd on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gnokii-smsd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnokii-smsd
Uninstall gnokii-smsd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnokii-smsd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnokii-smsd
Remove gnokii-smsd Configurations and Data
To remove gnokii-smsd configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnokii-smsd
Remove gnokii-smsd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnokii-smsd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnokii-smsd
