How To Install glusterfs-server on Ubuntu 20.04

What is glusterfs-server
glusterfs-server is:
GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several peta-bytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file system in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in userspace and easily manageable.
This package installs init scripts and configuration files to turn GlusterFS into a fully fledged file server.
There are three methods to install glusterfs-server on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install glusterfs-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-server using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install glusterfs-server
Install glusterfs-server Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-server using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install glusterfs-server
Install glusterfs-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-server using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install glusterfs-server
How To Uninstall glusterfs-server on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the glusterfs-server package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove glusterfs-server
Uninstall glusterfs-server And Its Dependencies
To uninstall glusterfs-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove glusterfs-server
Remove glusterfs-server Configurations and Data
To remove glusterfs-server configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge glusterfs-server
Remove glusterfs-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove glusterfs-server configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge glusterfs-server
