How To Install flexbar on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install flexbar
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is flexbar
flexbar is:
Flexbar preprocesses high-throughput sequencing data efficiently. It demultiplexes barcoded runs and removes adapter sequences. Moreover, trimming and filtering features are provided. Flexbar increases mapping rates and improves genome and transcriptome assemblies. It supports next-generation sequencing data in fasta/q and csfasta/q format from Illumina, Roche 454, and the SOLiD platform.
Parameter names changed in Flexbar. Please review scripts. The recent months, default settings were optimised, several bugs were fixed and various improvements were made, e.g. revamped command-line interface, new trimming modes as well as lower time and memory requirements.
There are three methods to install flexbar
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install flexbar Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install flexbar
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install flexbar
Install flexbar Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install flexbar
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install flexbar
Install flexbar Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install flexbar
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install flexbar
How To Uninstall flexbar on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the flexbar
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove flexbar
Uninstall flexbar And Its Dependencies
To uninstall flexbar
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove flexbar
Remove flexbar Configurations and Data
To remove flexbar
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge flexbar
Remove flexbar configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove flexbar
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge flexbar
