Bsfilter is a spam filter which can distinguish spam mail from other mails. It can read mails by three way:

  • reads from normal file or stdin.
  • retrieves and stores from IMAP server.
  • reads from POP server and passes to POP client. (POP proxy) Bsfilter gives nice support of Japanese.

There are three methods to install bsfilter on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install bsfilter Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install bsfilter using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install bsfilter

Install bsfilter Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install bsfilter using apt by running the following command:

Install bsfilter Using aptitude
