It offers a pleasant and modern experience, with intuitive graphical configuration tools and customizable skins and mapping tables. It is highly modularized and extensible, with GTK+ 2/3 and Qt4 IM Modules, support for UIs based on Fbterm, pure Xlib, GTK+, or KDE, and a developer-friendly API.
This package provides the GTK+ 2 IM Module frontend, which is recommended for all desktop users.
There are three methods to install fcitx-frontend-gtk2 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fcitx-frontend-gtk2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

Install fcitx-frontend-gtk2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx-frontend-gtk2 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fcitx-frontend-gtk2
How To Uninstall fcitx-frontend-gtk2 on Ubuntu 18.04

sudo apt-get -y autoremove fcitx-frontend-gtk2
Remove fcitx-frontend-gtk2 Configurations and Data
To remove fcitx-frontend-gtk2 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fcitx-frontend-gtk2
Remove fcitx-frontend-gtk2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fcitx-frontend-gtk2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fcitx-frontend-gtk2
